Chasing snails and other little things by Margaret Liu

Feeling a bit restless after midnight, I moved my microscope to my main work table, something I should have done a looong time ago!

I scooped a snail out of my fishtank, put it on a slide and recorded it moving around in its shell. This little guy was less than half an inch long.

...and after it came out of its shell it started crawling about on the slide and I spent an hour chasing it, trying to keep up with it in my field of view at 40x so i could get some good photos or a video it. I failed quite miserably. But, it was really neat watching it wave its little spotted antennae. I'll try again soon.

I also found a couple of these little guys in the water (not sure what they are):

Snatcher by Margaret Liu

Candid take of my Venezuelan suntiger tarantula (P. irminia) snatching a dubia roach away from my feeding tongs and dragging it down into a tube web it built. This is the same tarantula whose old exoskeleton appears in my MOLT series.
